I’m an abstract artist based in Bismarck, North Dakota. I love a good pretzel and you can normally find me with coffee in hand.
After my partner’s health scare in June 2018, I was inspired to start painting more as a way to heal and deal with the trauma of the experience. Much of my paintings are abstract: a style of painting where I feel most free, where my mind relaxes and I can put raw emotion onto a canvas. “Art is a wound turned into light,” said Georges Braque— I couldn’t agree more.
Art has always been my way of composting pain so that something new can thrive from it. I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 18 and while in college, I started a program called Hope in Focus which taught art and photography to children with chronic conditions in a hospital setting. Painting helped me get through the pain of facing something ugly and new; it was an honor to help children be able to positively deal with their own struggles.
In 2017 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. My work has been shown at 20Below Coffee in Fargo, ND as well as the Concordia College Senior Art Exhibit and the Concordia Juried Artist Showcase in Moorhead, MN. You can also find my work at All Smiles Dental in Bismarck, ND.
